Welcome to 149 Review!
Dear writing friends,
Welcome to 149 Review, an online literary magazine of poetry and creative nonfiction that is published for the love of craft!
Our journey to create a literary magazine began when we realized how rare it is for a journal to identify some of the specific craft choices that they believe make a poem or story exemplary. While it is understandable with how much work goes into any lit mag, it still made us sad that this is such an uncommon occurrence. Identifying these craft choices not only helps to point out how hard particular authors are working but also allows readers to notice craft choices they may have missed on their own and potentially incorporate them into their own work. This is why all creative submissions have a chance to win our craft prize and be highlighted for the specific craft choice(s) that make us adore it. This love of craft is also why we have a section of our website devoted to non-creative craft essays and craft resources.
Our CNF, visual art, and craft essays are open year round so submit whenever you would like. We will read as many craft essays as you send us, but for the other two categories please only send once every three months. Poetry submissions will be accepted February 1st-April 30th and July 1st-September 31st. All submissions to 149 Review are free and open to all people regardless of nationality or any other consideration. Our one stipulation for written work is that it must be primarily in English. More information can be found on our submissions page and any questions can be sent to 149review@gmail.com.
So, there it is! If you share our love of craft and writing please send us your work. Give us what we weren’t expecting, surprise us, make us hang onto every word and line break, show us some bit of research we never knew, give us craft choices that we can love as much as you do. Our team cannot wait to hear from you and share in the joy of your writing.
Warmest Regards,
Donald Pasmore
